CARMEN, North Cotabato — Armed with the prowess in empowering the youth, volunteers of Youth for Peace Movement (YFPM) Cotabato held a symposium and team-building activities with the officers of Advance Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) on August 25-26 at 1201st Community Defense Center (CDC) Headquarters here.
The activities aim to further capacitate the understanding of the Advance ROTC Officers, especially on the Communist Party of the Phillippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front’s (CPP-NPA-NDF) exploitation of the youth.
Participants came from various colleges and universities in the Cotabato province, which include the Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC), Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology (CFCST): Pikit and Arakan Campuses, Makilala Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), Notre Dame of Midsayap College (NDMC), I-Link College of Science and Technology-Midsayap, and the University of Southern Mindanao: Main, Mlang and Kidapawan City Campuses.
Former Rebel Joy James Saguino, the resource speaker of the symposium, highlighted that the ROTC cadets and officers have significant roles to fulfill in fighting the youth infiltration of the CPP-NPA-NDF and other terrorist groups.
Meanwhile, YFPM Cotabato integrated its core values, which are leadership, good citizenship, and patriotism, as it conducted the team-building activities. It was also a way to introduce the organization to the said participants.
The organization expressed utmost gratitude to 1201CDC Director LTC Lloyd T. Orcullo and the Municipality of Makilala Councilor Hon. Liezel Mae C. Caoagdan J.D., for the opportunity and their invaluable efforts in the successful event.
