DAVAO CITY - The National Youth Commission (NYC) has finally approved on Thursday the application of the Youth for Peace and Development Movement Philippines (YFPDMP) to the Youth Organization Registration Program (YORP), a month after it was filed in Manila.
According to Mr. Alexis H. Micutuan, President of YFPDMP, this first accreditation of the National Chapter is anticipated to improve the identity of YFP as a legitimate organization, not only in the national but also local level.
"This accreditation is important to us, since, as an NGO, our legitimacy will give us more confidence to perform our advocacy and assurance to our partners that their support for the YFPDMP and our local chapters will never be wasted," he said.
It can be recalled that prior to the filing of the YORP application, the YFPDMP National Officers paid a courtesy call to NYC Chairperson Ryan Enriquez regarding the accreditation and the plans of the organization to protect the youth from armed conflict and recruitment, which the NYC Chair has committed to supporting.
"Through this link with NYC, YFP is looking forward to a better partnership with them especially on Peace-Building and Security as one of the 9 Centers of Youth Participation," the YFPDMP President added.
