RAJAH BUAYAN, Maguindanao – Youth for Peace Movement PUKAW volunteers joined the implementation of Kalikit nu Kalilintad: Bottled Fish for Peace together with Maguindanao Youth Association of Youth Organizations and LGU Sultan Sa Barongis on February 5-6, 2022 at Municipal Tourism Office, Sultan Sa Barongis, Maguindanao. Kalikit nu Kalilintad: Bottled Fish for Peace gathered 10 young women from Sitio Legaw, Brgy. Angkayaman, Sultan Sa Barongis, Maguindanao who undergone series of peacebuilding and conflict analysis workshop, livelihood training specifically on Practical Kalikit Production, Product branding and costing and organizational management training which were delivered by experts from The Moropreneur Inc., TESDA Maguindanao, DepEd Sultan Kudarat, and Youth for Peace Movement PUKAW, Inc. Meanwhile, Ms. Maelar Jane N. Hechanova, the Project Head of the activity at the same time representative of the organization, opened the program with her gratitude to the partners of the project. “As a woman born and raised in Maguindanao, I saw the problems and experience them by myself. Hence, it is a duty for me to start spreading possibilities to my co-women by tapping their potentials especially on peacebuilding and organizational management”, said by Ms. Hechanova. In addition, she said that one of the core reasons of choosing Sitio Legaw, Brgy. Angkayaman, Sultan Sa Barongis is due to her love to his fellow peace champion whom she considered a brother. She said that this community has a lot of development potentials, only if we provide opportunities for this community as this community is considered underprivileged of opportunities due to existing conflicts and calamities. The story that her friend made her visit the place and make assessment, and study or research on how to address the existing issue. The implementation of the project comes along with positive perspectives for the women affected by armed-conflicts and early marriages in the said community. This opens more pathways for the women which, In Shaa Allah, will elevate their life as members of the community.
