YFPM PUKAW, UYAG implement Kabpayapat project in Maguindanao town

ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat – YFPM PUKAW, Inc. and United Youth Action Group (UYAG) jointly implemented a youth empowerment project for the youth of Datu Paglas on July 23, 2022 at Training Center, Datu Paglas, Maguindanao.

This project, dubbed "Kabpayapat: Spreading Awareness Through My Voice" aims to awaken, nurture and empower the 30 youth of the said municipality with the knowledge and skills relevant to combat disinformation on social media, spread awareness on the effects and risks of illegal drugs, violent extremism, and encourage them to be a responsible user of social media and internet.

It was fully funded by the Province of Maguindanao through the Maguindanao Association of Youth Organizations (MAYO).

The program was opened by one of the Kabpayapat Project Heads, Ms. Hamida Guiamadel, who emphasized that Kabpayapat is a safe space and avenue for the Youth of Datu Paglas to be heard, nurtured, and empowered as they are playing their vital role in spreading awareness towards a resilient and peaceful community.

Welcoming the delegates and the guests, UYAG Chairman Mr. Tohame M. Batua, said that the program was implemented with the thought that the words of the youth are powerful especially when they are given attention.

He also expressed his gratitude to MAYO for the continuous support in the pursuit of Youth empowerment.

“As the head of UYAG, we are grateful to partner with one of the premier youth organizations in the province of Maguindanao, the YFPM PUKAW, Inc...and I thank (Kaka) Hamida Guiamadel for helping me through in the preparation of this activity,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mr. Joharie M. Kabugatan, who represented both YFPM PUKAW and the funding agency MAYO, said that in his seven years of advocating peace and development, and youth empowerment, he realized that kindness is what matters most.

“At the end of the day, it is kindness that counts, not what we possess. Our kindness makes every individual happy and contributes to ease the negative situation one is experiencing,” he said.

Kabpayapat project is the first ever project that YFPM PUKAW implemented in partnership with a youth-led organization in Maguindanao Province, the UYAG.
