YFPM PUKAW, Inc. launches CabPangagi Program 2022

Updated: Aug 3, 2022

AMPATUAN, Maguindanao — The Youth For Peace Movement (YFPM) PUKAW, Inc. launched a Mobile Learning Hub (MLH) dubbed as "CabPangagi" Program at the Madrasah Usi Sangeban Al-Islamie, Brgy. Mileb, Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao on July 1. Project CabPangagi aims to reach out to all the communities within Maguindanao Province that have locals who are vulnerable to extremist recruitment, have been traumatized, experienced the effects of armed conflicts, and are currently Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) or commonly known as "bakwit." Such a program will provide peace-building activities that would improve the reading and writing skills of the recipients while having fun. At the same time, it will administer psychosocial interventions to children and adults who have experienced daily life struggles due to armed conflict. The "Ustads" and "Ulama" will also be the primary agents in the said campaign against extremist recruitment and protection of the younger generation to improve the lives of the members of identified communities. Madrasah Usi Sangeban Al-Islamie was the first recipient of the CabPangagi program, which is in partnership with Societal Adolescent-Youth Alliance, Inc. (SAYA) and sponsored by the Maguindanao Association of Youth Organizations. The launching activity was divided into two sessions: the first was fun and interactive games, while the second session was for the children who are in kindergarten. During the program, the pupils also received school supplies and other materials to support their studies while the educational institution received solar panels and light bulbs as a solution to the rotational blackouts experienced by the community. Project CabPangagi is a blended word derived from ‘Cab,’ which refers to a vehicle and ‘Kapapangagi’ is a Maguindanaon word that, if translated to English, is a verb that means letting the children study. Hence, the fusion of the words means creating space for learning despite the current global health crisis. Also, ‘kabpangagi’ is a Maguindanaon term that means "to study" or "to learn."
