COTABATO CITY – Youth for Peace Movement PUKAW, Inc. through its program Youth Hub: Empowering Youth through Alternative Pathways to Positive Social Transformation continues its youth development program despite the peak of 2022 National and Local Elections’ campaign dubbed as “Capacity- Development Through Transformational Leadership and Peacebuilding”, a salient component of the Youth Hub For Peace Program on March 28-30, 2022 held at Punta Isla, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato. with the support of UNDP Philippines and co-funded by the European Union in partnership with the Municipality of Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao.

This component focuses on capacitating the youth in peacebuilding and transformational leadership as young individuals in the municipality.

Pressing issues on elections, role of the youth and women as part of the community are the center of discussion and workshop.

Further, to explore more the potentials of the youth, this workshop shall engage the youth in practical workshop on social enterprise and possible small businesses which shall contribute in the economic development of the municipality.

Generally, this aims to maximize the participation of the youth in the municipality and allow them to join in peaceful decision-making, planning and implementation processes. Seventy youth from the municipality of Rajah Buayan had undergone series of exploratory and practical workshop on leadership challenges, women concern, youth issues and election concerns such as misinformation, disinformation, hate speech and fake news which led to redirect the minds of the young people and create a gap between individuals.

These youth were also engaged in practical training on social enterprise and business start-up ideas through GuLAYA Program of the LAYA Organization based in Datu Abdullah Sangki, Maguindanao. “In this coming election, I hope that our lessons learned from this workshop will echo and shall not be influenced of intimidation and threat caused by minority. We should not fear those armed with greed and selfish objective people. Let us always choose who’s true to public service and especially who has well-structured agenda for the betterment of the nation, province, municipality and community. Above all, let us practice our right of suffrage with our vision for peace and development through the guidance and help of Almighty God”, said by Mr. Joharie M. Kabugatan, President of YFPM PUKAW, Inc. during his parting and closing message. Meanwhile, this activity shall be followed by another training on Islamic Micro-finance Workshop and other relevant skills-based training designed for the Youth.
