YFP Davao Oro Extends Collaboration with New Partners through Dialogue



NEW BATAAN, Davao de Oro - In line with the implementation of Campaign Plan "Pakiglambigit" 2021, the Youth for Peace Movement (YFPM) Davao de Oro initiated a Collaborative Dialogue with three new peace in partners in the province during its 1st Quarterly Meeting on March 21, 2021, at Headquarters 28th Infantry Battalion (IB), Mawab, Davao de Oro.


The dialogue aims to seal a strong partnership and level-off the programs of the Davao Oriental-based Non-Government Organization called Lumon Community, the Youth Community Development Team (YCDT), the 28IB, and YFPM Davao de Oro, as they gear up towards empowering the youth and attaining peace and development in far-flung communities in the province this year.


Present during the event were the YFPM Davao de Oro Federation Officers and its Municipal Chapter Presidents. It was also graced by the Youth for Peace and Development Movement Philippines (YFPDMP) National President, Mr. Alexis Micutuan, and YFPM Regional Secretary, Mr. Bren D. Cabatingan.


During the discussion, Lumon Community Founder, Mr. Rod John Pandili presented their framework and list of programs that are centered on empowering geographically isolate communities through Peacebuilding and Property Alleviation.


"We are here for harmony," said one of the members of the Lumon Community.


Ms. Haradave Orfanel of the YCDT also presented the background of their organization and its notable practices that gained recognition from various groups due to its impact among former conflict-affected communities.


After the presentation, an open forum followed that was presided by Lt. Col. Alexander Banatao, Commanding Officer of 28IB.


It became a space for all parties to express their concerns, which eventually led to realizing their common goal for peace, youth empowerment, and community development and was sealed through an agreement.


"We value relationship than accomplishments," Ms. Bernadette Festin, President of YFPM Davao de Oro expressed during the open forum.


Meanwhile, after the dialogue, a planning was spearheaded by the YFPM Davao de Oro Federation Officers and participated by the Municipal YFP Presidents whereas they have adopted the YFPDMP's 2021 National Campaign Plan "Pakiglambigit" and aligned it with their local plan.


They have also set "Compassionate Leadership" as the organization's theme for the year.


The Quarterly Meeting ended as a success for YFPM Davao de Oro after finally having its set of plans and gaining new partnerships with other organizations.
