Tagum YFP sets off Project for FRs

TAGUM CITY - The Youth for Peace Movement (YFPM) Tagum City Chapter took another step forward towards attaining peace by realizing its Project KABUTE: A Social Startup for Former Youth Rebels by conducting a series of activities last April 3, 2021.


Youth for Peace volunteers traveled to the Municipality of Talaingod, Davao del Norte for the benchmarking of Uraya High-Value Crop Mushroom Production, one of the 56th Infantry Battalion's major livelihood projects for the former rebels (FRs).


MAJ RUSSEL ANTHONY BUMANGLAG, Executive Officer of the battalion led the team during the benchmarking at Barangay Uraya of the said municipality.


Following the benchmarking was the site visit to Freedom Village situated at Barangay Cuambugan, Tagum City, Davao del Norte.


YFP leaders headed by Winberth San Jose took time with the FRs in a consultative meeting with their village leader.


To conclude the activities, YFPM Tagum volunteers paid a courtesy call to the organization’s partner unit, the 1001st Infantry Brigade at the Municipality of Maco, Davao de Oro.


The organization was overwhelmed by the commitment given by the brigade through CPT DAVE ESTORNINOS (SC) PA, Civil-Military Operations Officer.


Also, COL GLENN JUN C CALAMBUHAY INF (GSC) PA, MNSA, Deputy Brigade Commander of 1001Bde expressed his support to all sets of programs of the organization.


He also gave insights and inputs for the organization to better represent the voice of the youth with matters relating to peace and development - the core advocacy of the organization.
