The Youth for Peace and Development Movement Philippines (YFPDMP) commends the Kalinga State University (KSU) in its recent move to pull out the books of the National Democratic Front (NDF) in its library.
We believe that this voluntary action of KSU's Administration is a brave step to secure their students from the deadly influence of the CPP-NPA-NDF while protecting their institution's integrity as a safe zone for peace. It is deadly since it has been proven many times that those books, and the CPP-NPA-NDF itself, has worthlessly led so many young students into their grave through their deception.
It is truly commendable and worthy to be emulated by other Universities as it shows that they care for the welfare and safety of their students. It also sends a clear message that the educational institutions are already taking part in fighting against the recruitment activities of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) among the students.
We know that academic freedom is a right to be enjoyed by every citizen of a democratic country, however, we strongly object that it will be used to instill an extreme and violent principle or ideology among the minds of our youth. We are concerned that if books such as that of the CPP-NPA-NDF remain in our educational institutions, a violent ideology might proliferate and eventually poison the mind of our students and future leaders.
To prevent making our country become a war-torn place for the next generation, we call on every freshman student to be vigilant in engaging with organizations that might have close ties with the CPP-NPA-NDF. While they show us their "immense love" for our country, these organizations are proven duplicitous by their former recruits and may only lead you to the wrong interpretation of patriotism.
We also call on every parent to be cautious about the groups that are being joined by their children as CTG-linked groups teach their recruits to be disobedient with their families.
To the administration of every educational institution in our country, let us be mindful that the core purpose of our schools is to produce students who will contribute to building our nation and not the other way around. It is, therefore, necessary to uphold this purpose by rejecting any ideology and group that will distract our students from fulfilling their dreams.
We encourage our students to contribute to the development of our country by joining our government in its efforts to counter the CPP-NPA-NDF and other elements which might be lurking in the four corners of the school campuses. Through your support and our concerted efforts, we can surely seal the protection of our youth.
