COMPOSTELA, Davao de Oro - As a step for a new beginning, being static for the past years, the newly-elected officers of the Youth for Peace Movement (YFPM) Compostela Chapter paid a Courtesy Call with the Bravo Company of the 66th Infantry Battalion (IB) at Barangay San Miguel, Compostela, Davao de Oro on April 20, 2021.
They were warmly welcomed by the Officer-In-Charge of Bravo Company, 2Lt. Abzede P. Juliano Jr.
The said unit of the Philippine Army in Compostela, Davao de Oro serves as one of the advisers and partners of the organization in empowering the youth and attaining peace and development in the said municipality.
Present also during the call was the Peace Communication Coordinator of YFPM Davao de Oro, Ronabelle Festin.
During the visit, Jopel Bodongan, the newly-elected President of YFPM Compostela, introduced to 2Lt. Juliano the organization and presented its important role in empowering the youth sector, which can be achieved through the help of the armed forces.
As a response, the Acting Commander assured his support to the organization, for the welfare of the youth in their area.
He also commended the members of the organization for their selfless and voluntary acts without expecting anything in return.
"Volunteerism is the greatest act of camaraderie," he said.
Meanwhile, before the courtesy call, the officers also had their first face-to-face meeting together with YFPM Davao de Oro President, Bernadette Festin where she discussed the roles and responsibilities of the officers and other important matters that they need to understand.
