MAWAB, Davao de Oro - Despite the health concern that continues to affect the movement of the organization, leaders of the Youth for Peace Movement Davao de Oro (YFPMDDO) have high hopes that their plans will be pushed this year with the help of a new partner in the security sector.
On January 17, 2021, Officers of the YFPMDDO Provincial Federation and Municipal Chapters of Maco, Pantukan, Mabini, and Mawab paid a courtesy call to Lt. Col. Alexander D. Banatao, Commanding Officer the 28th Infantry ( KAMAGONG) Batallion at Headquarters 28IB, Nueva Visayas here.
The meeting of the new Army Unit in Davao de Oro and leaders of the said Chapters aims to formally introduce the existing YFP organization in its area of responsibility.
With 15 youth leaders present, they were able to present their plans for the whole 2021 emphasizing the theme of "collaboration" to achieve youth empowerment. The attendees also introduced the vision and mission of Youth for Peace.
During the discussion, Jess Largado, YFPMDDO Vice President presented the regular activities of the organization and its accomplishments last year despite the pandemic.
"Kahit challenging mag-conduct ng mga activities ngayong may pandemic at mahirap mag adjust, hindi naman ito hadlang para hindi tumulong. Yung ibang youth volunteers tumutulong sila sa mga frontliners na mamigay ng mga food packs at marami pang iba," kuya Jess Elton said during the meeting.
A discussion about the concept of activities and how they will be implemented in the New Normal was also brought up during the meeting.
Meanwhile, Lt. Col Banatao commended the plans and efforts of the organization to empower the youth.
"Napakaganda ng mga ideas and plans ninyo on how you manage the organization. Napaka-organize ng mga youth dahil hindi lang sa YLS natatapos ang kanilang role pagkatapos gumraduate. They also grow as a leader sa kanilang communities," he said.
