MACO, Davao de Oro - Various youth leaders from different communities of Maco converged as the Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) marks its 7th run in the said municipality on September 22, 2021, at the Atty. Orlando S. Rimando National High School in Barangay Binuangan.
The event was spearheaded by the 28th Infantry Battalion, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Maco, Sangguniang Kabataan, Youth for Peace Movement (YFPM) Maco, and other partners.
With this year's theme, "Pakighinabi ug Pakiglambigit: Kabatan-onang Macoeños Nakig-hiusa alang sa Malutarong Kalinaw ug Kalambuan," the YLS aims connect all people, especially the youth in attaining lasting peace and development in the municipality.
Despite the current pandemic, the event kickstarted lively through an Opening Ceremony while the guests, facilitators, and participants observe social distancing and other health protocols.
During the opening, Hon. Jorlan Bon Sacay, the SK Federation President of Maco and one of the guests, expressed his gratitude for being part of the summit as he welcomed the participants.
"It is my great honor and privilege as your SK Federation President to welcome all of you for this year's Youth Leadership Summit," he said.
The ceremony was also graced by Mayor Alvera Veronica Rimando who served as Guest of Honor and Speaker, giving her encouragement to every participant to be active during the whole event.
"Kini nga activity dako gayong tabang sa inyo mga kabatan-unan sa Maco aron makita ninyo sa inyong kaugalingon ang pagka leader sa inyong tagsa-tagsa ka komunidad," she emphasized.#

Despite this year's challenges in our nation, peace must upheld by everyone, especially the youth, as a remedy for healing and unity. Hence, the Youth Leadership Summit will continue to instill among the youth the essance of peace and empower them for a peaceful and better future for our country.
