MABINI, Davao de Oro - The Youth for Peace Movement (YFPM) Mabini, in partnership with the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) Maco and Barangay Council of Tagnanan through its Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), has once again conducted a "Kalinaw Para Sa Kinaiyahan" (KPSK) Coastal Clean-Up Drive in Brgy. Tagnanan, Mabini, Davao de Oro on March 20, 2021.
The said activity was graced by Hon. Halima B. Muñoz, Vice Mayor of Mabini; Hon. Anecita R. Polinar, Brgy. Councilor of Tagnanan; Hon. Ralph Louis G. Ladio, SK Chairperson, of the said barangay with his council; YFPM Mabini volunteers; and youth participants.
During the program, Ms. Jessa Aquino, CENRO Staff, EMB Embedded Region XI and Ms. Aileen Mae L. Abuloc, Youth Desk Officer of MENRO Maco along with other MENRO personnel shared some inputs highlighting the Ecological Solid Waste and Management Act (RA 9003) and the environmental status of Mabini being declared as a Protected Landscape and Seascape (PLS).
Furthermore, with the participants’ commitment to contribute to helping their town, they were able to collect 11 sacks of different wastes from the said coastal area.
Meanwhile, the organization expressed its hope that through the KPSK program, more youth volunteers in Tagnanan will be inspired to continue the endeavor of protecting the environment.
The KPSK as a series of environmental initiatives on selected coastal barangays of Mabini for the whole month of March is now on its 3rd week.
