With a theme "Pakiglambigit ug Pakigbisog para sa Kalinaw ug Kalamboan alang sa Kabatan-onan sa Dangcagan" the training aims to empower the youth as advocates of peace in their municipality.
A total of 47 young leaders from the 14 barangays of Dangacagan were gathered during the summit made possible through the support of the Philippine National Police, the Local Government Unit led by Mayor Fruto B. Dandasan Jr., and the Sangguniang Kabataan.
During the 3-day event, participants were able to hone their self-awareness, achieved greater clarity regarding their interests and advocacies, gained deeper understanding and perspectives regarding effective leadership, and recognised the application of learning through interactive workshops, and outdoor activities.
Topics such as being an effective leader, the Local Government Code, Adolescence Health, Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism, Basic Firefighting, KKDAT Campaign, and youth power through social media were also lectured during the summit.
One of the activity's highlights was the solidarity night wherein the participants meditated and were able to release the negativities of their life.
According to Excyl Kim Cordova, one of the participants, "this is my first time joining YLS, and I was really overwhelmed since it has really helped us youth understand the issues of society, develop plan of action, and realize our potentials."
