DAVAO CITY - The United Nations (UN) Women Philippines and leaders of the Youth for Peace Movement (YFPM) Davao City Chapter met on March 20, 2021 here to discuss future collaborations for women empowerment in Mindanao.

The meeting was attended by UN National Programme Director Marlon Viejo, Evadyne Dela Cerna, YFPM TALBOS President, and Romeo D. Torres Jr, YFPM Davao City Peace Communication Coordinator.

During the discussion, YFPM Davao City Chapter gave its full support and commitment to the various activities laid out and the forthcomings series of activities in partnership with the said organization will be funded by UN Women.

To kick off the collaboration of the two organizations, an extensive workshop will be delegated by writers, bloggers/vloggers, influencers, and youth sectors which will be conducted in May 2021.

It will focus on capacity building and training which aims to equip the participants with necessary knowledge and skills as they will be the one to bring the learnings to the grassroot level - their respective communities.

This is only one of the many activities that are anticipated by the YFPM Davao City to come that are inclusive, innovative, educative and diversified.

In one of his message, Mr. Viejo believes that the women can do so much to empower one another. He also added that social media can be a powerful tool to build a bigger network that fosters safe spaces.

The UN Women has been leading the way in empowering women and providing them opportunities for effective participation, decision-making, and helping them make impact in the society.
