TUGUEGARAO CITY — A total of 56 youth leaders from the different municipalities of Cagayan completed the first three-day Provincial Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) Facilitators Training with the theme, ‘YOUTHnited Cagayan: Yielding Higher Ground of Youth Empowerment through PYLS Trainer's Training 1.0 to become Peace-builders and Resilient Youth of the Nation’, last July 29-31, 2022 at Cagayan Sports Complex here.
The training was organized by the Youth for Peace (YFP) Cagayan, 501st Infantry Brigade, 5th Civil-Military Operations (CMO) Charlie Company, 17th Infantry Battalion, and 77th Infantry Battalion together with the Provincial Government of Cagayan.
Speakers from varied fields shared their knowledge on political aspects, medical standpoints, peaceful governance, active participation of the youth, dealing with insurgencies, and other societal issues.
The training aims to guide the volunteers in their roles as facilitators while also reinstalling the values of leadership, healthy self-image, camaraderie, critical thinking, patriotism, social responsibility, and the spirit of volunteerism.
YFP Cagayan President John Carlo Manzano said that the summit aims to awaken the social and civic sensitivities of the youth and help them construct a critical understanding of nation-building.
"Sinasagawa namin ito upang tulungan mamulat ang sektor ng kabataan sa mga pangyayaring nagaganap sa ating lipunan at maging solusyon sa problems ng bansa," he pointed out.
