Baguio City, Benguet — The Youth for Peace Movement (YFPM) Baguio conducted its first-ever District Youth Leadership Summit last June 17-19, 2022 at Philippine Military Academy, Gregorio Fort Del Pilar here.
The vision of the summit is to transform and empower the youth in fulfilling their roles in building a morally and spiritually upright society anchored on the theme "Transforming and Empowering Agents of Change in the Fulfillment of their Roles as Advocates of Sustainable Peacebuilding and Community Development."
Such a summit was attended by 37 participants coming from the various districts of Baguio who involved themselves in the different activities of the three-day summit.
The activities include the topics of Youth Volunteerism, Mental Health Awareness, Philippine Military Academy (PMA), Community Involvement, Communist Party of the Philippines - New People’s Army - National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) Recruitment, team-building, lighting candles for peace, peace walk and other topics that cover the advocacies within the concept of peace.
Moreover, the summit aims to enhance the potential of the youth to become responsible citizens and advocates of peace and development especially in preventing them from insurgents’ recruitment.
The said summit was aided by the following: Local Government Unit of Baguio City; Philippine Army; Philippine Military Academy; Philippine Air Force; National Intelligence Coordinating Agency; Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency; Philippine National Police; Baguio City Police Office; City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council; National Youth Commission; Youth For Peace Philippines; Youth Organization Registration Program; Youth For Peace Northern Luzon Command; Baguio Local Youth Development Council; and Sangguniang Kabataan.
