DAVAO CITY - The 1st Peace Communication Unit (PCU) Coordinators Virtual Summit of the Youth for Peace and Development Movement Philippines (YFPDMP) has finally commenced today, December 4, 2021, with more than 60 PeaceCom volunteers present from different corners of the country.
The 2-day gathering aims to shape the connection of all PCU Coordinators through exchange of ideas and practices and develop the operational capacity of the PeaceCom Units with the help of revelant lectures.
Three Resource Speakers were present during the first day to share their knowledge on YFP Systems and on becoming effective peace communicators.
Kuya Jayron Romanillos, the OrgDev Coordinator of YFPDMP shared the Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives as well as the Structure of the organization.
It was followed by a lecture of YFPDMP's PeaceCom Coordinator, kuya Bren Cabatingan entitled "Understanding PeaceCom" where he discussed the 4 Thematic Advocacies, Roles and Responsibilities of PeaceCom Coordinators, and the prototype of YFPDMP's Public Information System.
Lt. Col. Filemon Tan, Jr., the Commander of Information Development Group under the Civil Relations Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines (CRSAFP), discussed how the YFP communicators can involve and support the government as third-party communicators.
He also commended the Youth for Peace for its initiatives that are positive and beneficial for the youth and country.
Meanwhile, the summit's first day ended with an inspirational message from the Commander of CRSAFP, MGen. Manuel V. Sequitin.
"Hoping that this two day peace communicators virtual summit will motivate you to cooperate, understand the roles and responsibilities as peace communicators, and serve as partner of government in promoting its programs and accomplishments," he said
He also assured that the Armed Forces will join in the youth's endeavors to fulfill their hopes for a better future.
"Face your future with boldness and untiring commitment to lead the nation to greater glory," he added.
The event, which will culminate on December 5 was made possible through the support of the CRSAFP.
