YFPDMP tours South Luzon, visits Katapangan Troopers

LUCENA CITY - The National Officers of Youth for Peace and Development Movement Philippines (YFPDMP) traveled to the home of the Katapangan Troopers as they paid a Courtesy Call to BGen. Greg T. Almerol, the Deputy Commander of Southern Luzon Command, AFP (SOLCOM), and his Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for CMO, Col. Rolly Dumawa on January 25, 2020, at Camp Guillermo Nakar here.

The Courtesy Call, led by Mr. Alexis H. Micutuan, was part of the 3-day tour of the National Officers in Luzon to present the organization to its key partners at the national level and seek their support.

They were assisted by the Civil Relations Service, AFP, and supported by the whole Armed Forces of the Philippines.

During the discussion with BGen. Almerol, the National Officers were able to present the organization and its accomplishments on the local level in 2019.

They have also presented and recommended the application of Four Thematic Advocacies among the local Chapters in their area of responsibility and asked for the Command's support to conduct an orientation for the YFP leaders to understand and appreciate its concept.

Likewise, the YFPDMP officers requested to BGen. Almerol to convene regional officers in his area and create one unified council that will help develop their subordinate chapters.

Last December 2019, the newly-elected officers also had the chance to present their plan to the new Commander of SOLCOM, MGen. Antonio Parlade Jr. during the 5th National Youth Leadership Summit in Tanay, Rizal, when he was the AFP Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for CMO.

Meanwhile, the SOLCOM committed to build and develop a strong partnership with their YFP chapters to once and for all protect the youth from armed conflict and the recruitment of lawless armed groups.
